I am an Oceans Campaigner for Greenpeace UK, currently working on the "Be a Fisherman's Friend" campaign. This year we are working towards the once in a decade reform of the Common Fisheries Policy (CFP), campaigning to reform the law the governs Europe's fishing industry.
I come from a small fishing village in Southern Italy and since I was little I have always seen small local boats catching and selling the fish in the main market. I have also witnessed the problems faced by the local fishermen due to the ever growing lack of fish in the local area.
This made me interested in the ocean creatures and how to preserve them, and, after my Masters Degree in Political Science, I decided to work in this sector and contribute to an actual change.
After a research experience on the IUU Fishing at the Environmental Justice Foundation, I joined Greenpeace as Campaigner working in the context of the Common Fisheries Policy.
Greenpeace is working with UK small-scale fishermen for a reform of the CFP. Under the current system both fish and fishermen are under threat. With your help we change these laws and give the right to fish to those who fish in the right way.

An overhaul of the law that governs fishing in Europe only happens every 10 years, so we need to make sure that this time, it works. We want a Common Fisheries Policy (CFP) that supports sustainable fishing, ends discards and puts the health of our seas first. Be a fisherman's friend. Join the campaign at www.greenpeace.org.uk/beafishermansfriend. Help us get it right.
