Maloca
Katari (which means snake in indigenous Aymara language) first opened its doors to humanity on june 29th, 2010. Since then, guests and volunteers from all over the world have enjoyed the abundance of life, sounds, and smells of this incredible virgin rainforest…“animals singing their way from sunrise and sunset, and a kaleidoscope of beautiful colors and heart warming smells that fill even the smallest space“
Little by little a botanical garden of healing plants is being set up and the guardian’s family with 5 children is giving joyful life to the site. With the help of many generous and pure hearts Herbert Quinteros has been leading the creation of this authentic, sheltered space of virgin rainforest.
Herbert Quinteros Flores was born in the city of Tarapoto, Perú. He started his path and his vocation as an ayahuasquero and healer 15 years ago. He’s been studying about the teacher plants with Amazonian masters of Shipibo, Cocama, Asháninca as well as Quechua Mestizo ethnies. His proper family has worked with the knowledge of the Amazonian medicines and through his travels he has enrichened and developed his own form of work based on the traditional rituals. Herbert uses the Andean flaute called “quena”, the panflute (zamponia) made of feathers of the condor, the Andean guitar “charango”, the guitar and drums to acompany his healing work.
“… with the voice of a grand-father and of a child I express the ikaros (traditional medicine songs) and medicinal melodies as they manifest themselves to guide us and to bring us centered in our personal work- to the inside and to the outside- perfectly alined with the universe… eachone can heal wounds and drink of the universal wisdom which is talking to us with love” Herbert
