At Whale of a Time we have a unique approach in engaging the community through a creative message. During the Whale of a Time Workshop we support participants in their creative process, engaging people of all age groups in a fun way with healthy living, today’s environmental issues or simply exploring creativity.
During the workshop people use their imagination and express themselves artistically by making realistic and fantasy clay models.
Relating to the themes these could be a model of the human body, animal or plant species and ecosystems of different places in the world. The aim is to learn about our relationship with our environment, sustainability and healthy living in a fun and creative way.
Having a whale of a time and taking the experience home in our hearts is what the workshop is all about. Please view your Whale of a Time Gallery.
Whale of a Time Volunteers help with the running of the workshop and should be able to work in a team, be flexible and travel to different locations in and around London and sometimes further.
During workshops you’re focus point for the visitors and support where necessary.
Main tasks include handing out art materials and tools, helping people with their masterpieces, discussing environmental issues, tidying workshop space, being you and having a whale of a time!
It would be helpful but is not requirement if you have previous experience working with people of all age groups, using clay and / or other art materials in a school or workshop environment.
Your keen interest in wildlife conservation and education will find great interest in discussions during the workshop and encourage people to create a positive attitude towards protecting and looking after our planet.
We visit youth and community centres, festivals, private and public events including shows and exhibitions.
All interested participants should please call Irene on 020 8123 0325 for a chat or email us at info@whaleofatime.org
